Blog Update

Happy Friday, cuties! It's been a bit quiet on the blog lately, but for good reason! Something very exciting is coming to the blog soon, and I can't wait to share with you all.

Thank you SO much for the support, and I hope you have a lovely weekend! I'm excited to get a haircut, bang trim, and balayage (my first time!), and go to a friend's Housewarming party on Saturday evening. I've already got the perfect outfit planned :)

The Morning After A Sick Day | Comfy Basics

Camel Cardigan by Lafayette 148 (from Crossroads Trading Co.) | Black Suede Skinny Pants from Cuffs Boutique (worn here as well) | White Henley from American Eagle | White Purse by Betsey Johnson (from vintage boutique in Sacramento) | Taupe Wedges by Calvin Klein (from Macy's) | Lipcolor in Demure

Who says basics have to be boring?!

Not me! I've been sick with the flu for the last five days, and finally I was well enough to go back to work. Instead of hitting the snooze button like I was planning on doing, I decided to get up a bit earlier and eat breakfast, wash my face (I need to get better at this!), throw on a headband, put on some light makeup, and wear something comfy but also somewhat cute.  I'm glad I did because let me tell you, I felt so much better and got a decent amount of work done. It felt nice to finally join the world again. Black suede skinny pants, a white long sleeved Henley, and an over-sized camel cardigan with the cutout detail is the comfiest combo for the morning after!

While I was sick, Zoey took good care of me (i.e. he slept on my body while I was sleeping), and I was able to re-watch Friends from the very beginning. There are so many episodes I missed the first time around so I'm looking forward to watching the entire series in sequential order. I'm obsessive-compulsive like that! And yes, I'm well aware that there are plenty of new TV shows to watch... but I just can't help myself!

I'm so looking forward to the 3-day weekend!! Just two more days to go... Thanks for visiting today!

Essentials

Let's talk about my idea of the essentials today!

- Little black cotton dress (this one I love with the cutout shoulders and the loose shape, from ASOS a few seasons ago)
- Camel and tan over-sized cardigan (from ASOS a few seasons ago, worn here as well)
- Floppy burgundy hat (this one is a Jessica Simpson one from Marshalls)
- Brown booties

You can mix and match these essentials in so many ways and each piece is pretty much season-less. Perfect for the gal on a budget! What are some of your essentials?

Happy Monday and I hope you have a fabulous week! I was sick all weekend and still a bit sick - hoping for better days soon!

Cozy for Hot Cocoa

Coffee shops + hot cocoa + rainy days = Blogging Bliss

At least I thought so on this particular day (and yes, it did rain some in Sacramento). These are my first real (not from Target) rain boots ever!! They are pretty darn cute, especially with the thigh high socks. I got so many compliments on my distressed sweater dress (from Arden B a few seasons ago), as I was working away and sipping on hocho (learned that term from Gilmore Girls - favorite show!) at the coffee shop near my apartment. And don't get me started on my striped cardigan - it's so soft and cozy, I've worn it so many times this winter, as you will see in future posts ;)

Don't you just love spending solo time at the coffee shop?! So relaxing, indulgent (with the fancy hot cocoa), and you get to eavesdrop on people's first date conversations! So much better than hanging out at the bars!

Are you a hot cocoa person? Tell me, do you like the little marshmallows or the big ones - these are important details! As always, thanks for visiting and I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Let Love In

YAY for my favorite month of the year! Happy February, lovelies!

February is without a doubt, (one of) favorite month of the year! It is short, filled with holidays, and takes me back to elementary school days of valentine cards, Hershey kisses, and the yummiest Lifesaver lollipops of all time... which sadly I think has become obsolete (If you know of where I can get these lollipops, let me know!). During February, I especially love to wear all things girly, be extra kind to others, pamper myself, and spoil the puppy guy with lots of hugs and kisses. He loves it!

I adore the heart print on this Express dress (sadly it's not available anymore.. I got it on sale a few months ago)! It is super adorable, flattering on slim figures, and the back is just a tad bit revealing. You can wear it for many different occasions throughout the month, whether it be a casual day with friends, date night with your special man friend, or just any old day! I kept the look casual with black lace up flats, a dainty white purse, black cardigan, and the cutest bow headband (which was actually just wrapping on a present). Pretty and girly - just how I like it!

Thank you for visiting today! And for this entire month, I encourage each one of you to be especially kind to yourself! I know I will ;)

An Evening in San Francisco

Gotta love a little floral dress!

The "skirt" I'm wearing is actually a dress, and even though it is best suited for the spring and summer seasons, I made it work in the winter. Don't you love when that happens!? Other pieces I love are a gray cashmere V-neck sweater, black lace-up booties, simple gold jewelry, and a burgundy hat - all pieces that can be worn in so many different ways.

My friend from college decided to celebrate his birthday in San Francisco, and I'm so happy I was able to join in on the birthday festivities! After dinner at The Stinking Rose, we went to the Marriott Marquis, two places I had never been to before. It was a marvelous evening catching up with old friends and making new ones. 2016 is off to a wonderful start so far! How's your 2016 treating you?

Outfit Details

Black booties - XOSO (from Macy's)

Winterfest

A slouchy beanie is a must-have in the winter, wouldn't you agree?

I recently wore this sweet beanie and skirt combo to Winterfest in Sacramento, and I had a fabulous time. I found the beanie at Bonnie' Handknits, a vendor at the Midtown Farmer's Market, It has definitely become my favorite beanie of all time - perfect for those toasty winter days! The floral silk top and taupe booties complete the outfit, and it is quickly becoming another favorite!

Winterfest is a beer and wine social, as well as a food truck social. There were so many
food trucks that night, and the best part was there wasn't a wait to get to the food. The proceeds from the event go to support a fantastic cause in the Sacramento area, which makes the event all the more worthwhile. If you live in Northern California, I would highly recommend checking it out next year! I hope you are all having a fabulous January so far, and thank you for visiting!
